A new sideline!

Spent 5 days attending a Road Scholar craft program. I did basketry but they had quilting, wood carving, salt-rising bread making, stain glass, dulcimer making, and water colors. Rained one day otherwise beautiful spring days.

Road Trip to WV

Very pleasant trip from Austin to Ripley, WV (just north of Charleston).  After getting off interstates the road sides were wonderful.  On 64 in KY looked like the roadsides were seeded with redbud trees like TX seed with bluebonnets.  In the small towns there were scads of white and pink dogwoods.

Home Again

After battling the big front that stretched through the middle of the US and watching out for tornados and big rains, we made it home late Friday.  Will head out again on Friday for Road Scholar program in Ripley, WV and visiting aunt and cousins.  Back around the first of May.

Sunset boat tour on the river

Took the Eco tour to see dolphins and birds--pelicans, terns, and herons primarily. We saw a big pod of dolphins feeding.  Great trip!

St Augustine

Eating lots of great sea food too--salmon tapis for lunch and seared groper with a wonderful fruit sauce with nut toping.

St Augustine--tour of city

Did the Old Town Trolly Tour of the town today.  Lots of beautiful churches and architecture. And of course, Ponce de Leon.  Will go to the Fountain of Youth tomorrow for a fix.

St Augustine #2

The flowers and trees with spanish moss and fern are so beautiful.
I want to find the St Augustine botanical garden

St Augustine

On way to St Augustine we stopped at a Farmers' Market.  We met the cutest lady with the most beautiful vegetables. She said we couldn't take a picture unless she was in it.  Bought a bunch of stuff to sustain us on our travels.  The cauliflowers were on the top of her truck.  Aren't they pretty.

Moving on-->Perry, Fl

Took the scenic route around the Gulf to Perry, Fl.  Beautiful beaches and blue waters.  Lots of college kids and expensive looking beach houses along the way.  Saw several lots for sale if anybody is interested.  This evening we had dinner in a little oyster house just outside Perry.  Seems that there is a bluegrass musical event in town this weekend.  We were entertained by some unique performers.  Not my choice of dinner music!  Stopped in a hotel lobby to see Indiana beat Tennessee.

Still in Destin

TERRIBLE internet access in this luxurious RV park.  Nonetheless we up'ed for two more nights.  Loved every minute of it.  Nice cool breeze off the gulf kept us happy.
